Hair Care Pioneer
When considering a historical figure who pioneered the way we take care of our hair, Madam C.J. Walker and Annie Malone immediately come to mind. They are responsible and celebrated for the inventions of the straightening comb, a host of hair care products and are the founders of numerous cosmetology institutes across America. Another notable pioneer is Garrett Augustus Morgan Sr., who also developed the curved tip straightening comb, a cream for relaxing coarse hair as well as products to dye Black hair. What their accomplishments mean for us all is that we have the ability to develop great products with great results. It also means we don't have to confirm to the way others look. Black hair is the most diverse type of hair in the world and black hairstyles are also time-tested and proven trendsetters from locks, braids and twists to relaxed, fro, curls and cuts.
Although we are not historical figures, we chose to highlight our most popular product, Re-Gro. It is the only re-growth product in history specifically designed for women of color, with an FDA approved, patented ingredient that guarantee's hair growth. - Wear a scarf, hat or cap to protect your hair from the cold and wind, but make sure that it's not so tight that it will restrict circulation in your scalp.
- Use a conditioner daily.
- Once you have your hair moist, lock in the moisture by running your hair through cold water, this will also give your hair an extra shine.
Good Hair is Healthy Hair
Historically, Americans of African descent have very limited knowledge of their roots because as early as the 1400's, the heritage of various African tribal traditions were lost during the arrival into the "New World." Plainly, Africans were stripped of their identity. The design of our anatomy and biological features have been topics of debate mostly among ourselves in our communities. Generally, coarse hair, thick lips, wider noses, curved hips and darker complexions are the features that greatly differ from those of European features. "Good hair" derived from the idea that those with a lighter complexion and naturally loose-curled or straight hair were more privileged than those of dark complexions, coarser hair.
Contemporary popular culture have bravely faced the big question: What is good hair? Movies like Chris Rock's Good Hair, India Arie's debut single, Video and I am Not My Hair, challenge the stigma of how our style should be; how our hair should look. Read More Historically, the rise and popularity of afros by activists like Malcolm X and Angela Davis, have made the stereotype of "good", natural, permed, kinky and curly hair socially acceptable. While there is still a struggle with the issue, the diversity of Black hair is becoming more accepted, especially by our own.

Even a Rose has Roots
Roses are beautiful, adorned ornaments of Earth. It's fragrance is what distinguishes itself and its beauty is lasting, from its tight pedals to its flowering bloom. In all its glory, still, there are hidden truths. No matter whose vase it ends up displaying, it still has roots. Underneath the soil are the beginnings of its story and how that rose grew. No matter how beautiful it may be, even a rose has roots. This Easter Holiday, take a moment to remember your roots, who you are and the people that pioneered the way for you to achieve great success.
